Parquet Wood Floor Restoration & Refinish- Albuquerque

Parquet Wood Floor Sand, Restore and Refinish

Recently we had the rare opportunity to restore an original Parquet wood floor in the home of one of our customers. The owner was interested in restoring the original wood floor to keep the unique character it gives to the house.

As you can see in the “before” photographs the wood floor had very visible “walk paths” that had been ground down to the bare wood throughout the years.  Needless to say this wood floor restoration was well overdue!

The floor first had to be sanded back to bare wood. Color had then be blended back to the areas where both household traffic and sun had worn it down and bleached it over time. Precision repairs were then done to fill all dark, dented and scratched areas on the floor.  Finally the floor was given 4 coat of semi-gloss polyurethane which should be very durable and stand the course of time!

Here are the “Before” and “After” Photos:

Art Deco Waterfall Armoire- Veneer Restoration

Art Deco Waterfall Armoire Veneer Restoration- Albuquerque

One of our clients recently moved and experienced furniture damaged while in transit.  They had several damaged pieces and unfortunately one of those was an Art Deco Waterfall Armoire that had some of the chevron veneer broken & pulled off in five different areas.

In order to repair the piece to “like-new” condition the missing pieces of veneer had to be re-fabricated and painted by hand to match.

Precision Table Repair Albuquerque: Veneer Table Damage

Precision Wood Repair Albuquerque

Precision repair is the art of repairing small areas that have been scratched, gouged, dented or otherwise damaged.

To do this we use products designed to fill and level and colorants designed to blend and camouflage.

Sometimes this is referred to as in-filling and in-painting.

*The goal is to make an obvious area of damage blend in to the point that it is not so obvious or even completely unnoticeable.

The Architectural Wood Institute specification for what constitutes an acceptable precision repair/touch-up states that if the repair is invisible from:

-9 ft it is called Standard      -6 ft- it is called Custom        -3 ft- it is called Premium

Precision Repair Process: Pictures are worth a 1000 words!

The Experts at Furniture Medic Share Helpful Hints: Water Damage on Wood Surfaces

Take a Tip from the Experts- Furniture Water Damage Repair Albuquerque

Some cleaning jobs are simple. If the floor is dirty, sweep it. If the laundry is dirty, wash it. But furniture care is a bit more complex.
The experts at Furniture Medic have some helpful hints that will help you care for all the furniture in your home.
For table rings, there are a variety of methods that work: …
•A paste of olive oil and salt can be applied and then wiped off after two hours.
•You can also cover the water mark with mayonnaise and then sprinkle it with salt. Rub the mixture until the stain disappears and then buff until dry.
•The spot can be rubbed with non-gel toothpaste and baking soda. Buff the spot with a clean, soft cloth and then shine the spot with the meat from a pecan.
•After using any of these techniques, check to see if the spot needs re-waxing.
Use these handy tips to keep your furniture beautiful. If you find yourself with more severe problems, such as water or fire damage, or in a situation beyond do-it-yourself tactics, contact the experts at Furniture Medic.
